Youth RE News (February 2011 Newsletter Content)


Beginning February 6th, 2011 we will have our first class for preschool age children attending Religious Education. These are a few details:

Who: Children ages 3-5 who are potty trained
When: 10:45-ish (when the kids return from the service).
Where: In the classroom that the Tweens use during the 9:30 hour
What: Celebrating Me and My World, Author: Debora Chandler Pratt

Theme and Description: This full-year curriculum celebrates the wondrous qualities of children and the animals, objects, and people around them. This curriculum provides preschoolers with experiences and opportunities to grow in trust and caring and to develop their self-identity and sense of connectedness with all of life.

RE News Announcement! We need more volunteers for all classes! If you haven’t been asked to assist in class, please come and remind us of your interest.

Current Topics – We would like to let parents know ahead of time, topics planned for the children in the various RE Classrooms. This is a brief over view of the topics:

Kids Club House – Age range 5-7

February 6 – The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Palacco, Goal: To value the community of faith in which we live.

February 13 – St. Valentine by Robert Sabuda, Goal: To celebrate intergeneration friendship and kindness.

February 20 – In God’s Name by Sany Eisenberg Sasso Goal: To begin to understand that the word God is bigger than any one person’s definition.

February 27 – Born with A Bang by Jennifer Morgan Goal: To hear the story about the creation of the Universe and our interconnected place within it.

Tweens Class – Tweens will continue lessons about Outstanding UU's who represent achievements in science, the arts, religion, and public life, and will plan their spring social action project.
