AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP BACK-TO-SCHOOL STUDENTS IN NEED - July 2012 Newsletter Article

AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP BACK-TO-SCHOOL STUDENTS IN NEED

The Apple Tree Project, coordinated through Interfaith Ministries of Denton, hopes to assist over 1,400 children with essential items needed to be ready for school. Organizations are brought together by the Interfaith office to help more children, and to reduce the duplication of services.

Members and Friends of DUUF have the chance to provide two sets of new clothing (only 2 tops and 2 bottoms) to give a good start back to school. You can participate by adopting an "Apple Child." Information will include the gender, age, grade, clothing sizes, and favorite color, plus instructions. Note: Do not buy extra goodies because the child will not receive them.

Twenty (20) were adopted after the service on Sunday June 24. DUUF supported 35 children last year, a huge improvement from the previous year. Cheerleader Jim Progar wants to break that record of 35 this year! Here is how you can participate:

1. Adopt an Apple Child on Sunday after the service. Return your bagged clothing to the DUUF office by July 15 (office opened Tue & Thu; check hours 940-566-1286) OR drop the clothing at the Interfaith office before Sunday July 21. Please Wendy Leung know if you decide the latter.

2. Make a contribution directly to Interfaith Ministries by either giving it to Wendy Leung, or mailing it directly to:

Interfaith Ministries of Denton
1109 N Elm St
Denton TX 76201

In August the clothing you purchase will be included in a new donated backpack, school supplies, and a gift card for new shoes! If you have any questions, please contact Wendy Leung at wleung2012@hotmail.com or 940-321-8961.

Thank you for your support of this social action project!
